Practices / Agentic & Hybrid Systems Practice 01

Agentic & Hybrid Systems.

Most net-new work lives here: the line drawn between exact and judgment parts, the guardrails engineered, the system delivered to hold up under real load and real audit exposure.

01Definition

What this practice is

A hybrid system has two kinds of parts: those written as fixed rules because they must be exact, and those that use a model because they need judgment. The value of the system depends on the line between them being drawn right, and on the judgment parts being contained so they can't do quiet damage. That's the engineering this practice covers, end to end, where most net-new work lives.

02Scope

What we do

  • Draw the line between the exact parts and the judgment parts, and document the reasoning so it holds up to review.
  • Engineer the guardrails on every AI part: limits on what it can touch, grounding in your data, a defined behaviour when it is uncertain, and tests that measure answer quality.
  • Build the inference and grounding layer: the retrieval, the data connections, and the orchestration that keep the model tied to real information.
  • Harden the system for real load, real data, and real audit exposure, so it behaves the same in production as in review.
  • Instrument correctness monitoring before launch, so the system is observable for whether it is still right from the day it goes live.
03Method

How we work

A small team of senior engineers, working alongside your people, in your environment, not a sandbox we keep. We're framework- and model-agnostic: the model is chosen per problem and can be changed later without rebuilding around it. When the engagement ends, the system, tests, and monitoring are yours, documented well enough for your team to run and extend.

04Fit

Where this practice is strongest

This practice serves data-dense, process-heavy work across our lead industries. Communications is the strongest proof domain, telecom network operators and their assurance teams; the practice also serves operations and risk leaders in Retail & Ecommerce, Healthcare, and Fintech.

Draw the line before you build.

Most engagements here begin with an Architecture Review, a short diagnostic that draws the line before any build commitment.
